The Dallas Mavericks make for some fine picks.

The Boston Celtics are battling with the Atlanta Hawks for the top seed in the Atlantic Division while the San Antonio Spurs are battling with the Dallas Mavericks for top spot in the Southwest Division, so both of these teams need some wins.

The Celtics are on their first game back after a road trip. They lost their last game to Utah giving up a 12-point lead with Paul Pierce going cold shooting just 3 for 11.

But they won their first three and Pierce was on fire averaging 28 points.

The Nuggets have lost two straight to some of the worst teams in the NBA, the New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks, although the Bucks are playing pretty well of late. Their coach George Karl is undergoing treatment for throat cancer and isn’t with the team.

Two of the West’s top teams meet both coming off of road losses on Sunday as the Phoenix Suns host the Denver Nuggets.

The Suns finished their game against the Spurs on a sour note after missing a slam dunk in the final minute and having an embarrassingly bad 3-point effort to tie the game in the dieing seconds.

Otherwise, the Suns have been pretty hot winning 11 of 13 SU to move back into the upper echelon of Western Conference teams.

The Nuggets have had a very average 7-5 February capped with last night’s loss to the Lakers. The Nuggets had a 9-point lead at half-time, but totally stunk up the second half and lost in convincing fashion.
