Butler Bulldogs vs Syracuse Orange Sweet 16 Picks Review
The Syracuse Orange are the heavy favorites coming in to this game. They will continue to be without injured big man Arinze Onuaku who missed the first two games of the tournament. But they have a ton of weapons and did fine without Onuaku in the first two games.
The Butler Bulldogs barely squeaked by their second round opponent shooting just .360 against Murray State and center Matt Howard spent most of the second half on the bench in foul trouble.
The Orange are 6.5-point March Madness lines favorites at betED and the over/under is 137.5.
All of Syracuse’s losses came when the opposing team shot over 50 percent and Butler isn’t shooting that well.
The Bulldogs aren’t going to be able to dictate the tempo against the Orange who have already shown that they can handle slowdown tactics. The loss of Onuaku won’t be a factor, because Butler doesn’t have much of an inside game to take advantage of his absence.
Syracuse’s many weapons will put up points even against Butler’s defense while Syracuse can play a decent enough defense to stop Butler’s offense.
Bang the Book: Syracuse
The Bulldogs haven’t played a team with as many weapons as the Orange.
Wesley Johnson and the rest of the Syracuse lineup is scoring well enough to not need Onuaku and should win by double digits.
